The end of Marijn's Minor

Hey all,

It is almost a month ago that I posted, that's because I was very busy!

I went to 2 events :
- Zorg & ICT Beurs
- Noodpakket voor IT'ers congres

Which have really inspired me. I really had a nice time meeting new people and doing some programming.

I made a Desktop Application for Recognize the Replication/ Herken de herhaling. And I did some small test work on SiDD2 as well.

Now my time is over and it's time that someone else takes the lead in this project.
I'm sorry that I have not posted in a while. My source and docs will be released later by the next group when we have a complete product.

Busy Bees

Hey All,

We are sorry that we have not updated out blog for a while now.
We are currently very busy with the research and realisation of our product.

Sensors and hardware.
We are going to order a bed sensor soon, so that we can detect if a person is in its bed. Furthermore, we have arranged a bluetooth module that works with our SunSPOT. It enables us to warn the client on their mobile phone via bluetooth.

As I already said, we are very busy with SIDD and try our best to deliver a proof-of-concept product by week 10. I am planning to test our current SunSPOT code and after that I would like to experiment on Bluetooth communication.

So, I hope to give you all a new heads-up soon.

Wij zijn Marije en Corline en doen de opleiding MBRT, dit staat voor Medische Beeldvormende en Ratiotherapeutische Technieken.
Via de Minor Zorg en Technologie zijn wij in contact gekomen met Censi en zijn wij ingedeeld in het project Structuur in de Dag en Bioritmiek.
Hiervan is Bioritmiek een nieuw project en dat doen wij met z'n twee├źn.

Bij Structuur in de Dag helpen wij meer de zorg kant van het project naar boven te halen. Hierbij gaan wij dus kijken hoe de communicatie verloopt naar een verstandelijk beperkt persoon. Hoe wij daarmee kunnen overbrengen dat diegene naar bed moet.
Verder gaan wij kijken naar het gebruiksvriendelijkheid van het matras.
Handelingen bedenken waarmee wij kunnen analyseren dat iemand naar bed gaat. Wij zijn ervoor om dus vooral te kijken naar de Zorg kant van het project. En te zoeken naar hoe de techniek samen met de zorg kan samenwerken zodat er voor de begeleiders minder intensieve uren zijn.

We zien er naar uit om goed samen te werken.
Deze en volgende week gaan we eerst met de communicatie bezig naar verstandelijk beperkte mensen.

Programming some more: The human factor.

This week I've been busy programming in the human factor. My code still needs to be tested but that is scheduled in for next Monday.

This week I analysed all possible scenarios with one of my other collegaes. My software now also detects if the user leaves the bed at night, and sounds an alarm if the user is out of bed too long.

The human factor means that my software detects if a user is in bed. Last weeks version of week 2 just had 3 alarm phazes that don't keep in mind that these can be stopped if a user get's into bed.

So, next week : testing, debugging and looking into the bedsensor which we want to use for this project.

Result of week 2: 3 Phaze Alarm on SunSPOT

This week i've bin busy with a Plan of Approach and coding a SunSPOT.
I programmed in 3 alarm phazes that have their own actions.

A short description of each alarm phaze:

  • Phaze 1 alerts the client just like a regular alarm clock.
  • Phaze 2 gets activated if you "snooze" one time by not getting into bed. Phaze 2 has an x number of warnings before going into alarmphaze 3.(It also sends a silent alarm to help)
  • Phaze 3 is critical, it sends a message to get help.

In this demo, the alarm phazes are only shown by Indicator LED's.

I hope to make contact with my superior this or next week to look into the details.

Where to find our files.

Hello everybody,

I have set-up a Sourceforge page for this project. (LINK)
This enables us to keep our code, documentation, forums, etc. all in one place, and makes it easier for other groups or people to get involved.
This blog will still be updated to get the story behind it all, offcourse.
Sourceforge makes it possible for "outsiders" to download code, documentation and join the project as well.

We do not only to post all our our code, agenda's and minutes on the blog, but als on our public SVN- Repository that comes with Sourceforge.

Simple Motion Detection test

The following video shows a simple demo of a motion sensor. These sensors can be used to get the position of the subject in their house.

Note: this is only an experiment for testing purposes. Low quality is because of the use of a mobile phone. I'll record it with a (web)camera next time.
